Tour: Sagittarius A East - YouTube - astrophysics - NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory
Saggitarius A East (Sagt A East) was thought to have been a typical supernova explosion of a massive star. Now ,however, after a longer study with Chandra, astronomers have ascertained that,in fact,Sagt A East is actually where a white dwarf star exploded.White dwarfs are the shrunken stellar embers of a fuel-depleted star like our Sun that isn't large enough to supernova. The explosion is the result of thermonuclear reactions that travel quicky through a white dwarf when it pulls too much material from a companion star or merges with another white dwarf, causing the destruction of the white dwarf and a stunning flash of light.Explosions of a white dwarf are a crtitcal source of elements critical to life on Earth such as iron, nickel and chromium.Such elements are only created in the nuclear furnaces of stars or when stars explode.*Credit:NASA/Jet Propusion Laboratory-California Institute of Technology*Text by Chandra and edited by Andrew Taylor

Tour: Supernova 1987A Pulsar Wind Nebula - YouTube - astrophysics/cosmology
NuStar, the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array is a space observatory operated by NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory-California Institute of Technology. Its mission is to study the universe in high energy X-rays to better understand the dynamics of black holes, exploding stars and extreme active galaxies.Together with the NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array,a network of 60 radio telescopes in Chile,it has been studying SN 1987A,one of the most studied objects in recent times.SN 1987A is only about 170,000 light years from Earth,so is right next door.Within SN 1987A,a neutron star, the densest object in the universe, has been ascertained that is also a pulsar, the twin bursts of energy coming out of each end being detected as pulses.*Cosmology is the study of the origin, evolution and structures of the universe.*space observatories

Habitability of exoplanets studied by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA's XMM-Newton - YouTube - Space.com
The NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA Multilayer Mirror-Newton X-ray Observatory are screening exoplanets for those exposed to harsh radiation that renders them uninhabitale for organisms.ESO's Extremely Large Telescope is under construction. The Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) is a concept NASA is studying for a large space-based ultraviolet/optical/infrared telescope slated for launch in the 2040s on a large launch vehicle such as the SLS or SpaceX Starship.*Credit:NASA/CXC/A.Hobart

Milky Way's core is 'venting' - Chandra X-ray Telescope sees it! - YouTube - Space.com - cosmology
Using the Chandra X-ray Telescope, scientists have discovered a chimney and exhaust vent 26,000 light years from Earth. The structures are in the center of the Milky Way and perpendicular to its spiral arms.Exhaust from the Milky Way's centrally located supermassive black hole,Saggitarius A*/Sgr A*,may be behind the formation of these structures and other massive galactic structures.*Cosmology is the study of the origin of the universe and its structures.

Milky Way's black hole may be spinning 'football-shaped' spacetime warp - astrophysics
Studies of the supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way,Sgr A*,were made using the NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Very Large Array,an array of radio telescopes in New Mexico.
The singularity of a black hole was predicted by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, yet was never confirmed by observation in his lifetime.A singularity has zero volume yet infinite density, hence it bends spacetime to an infinite extent. As you approach a singularity, time slows down from an observer's point of view, but not from the one being observed's point of view (relativity). It slows down so much it virtually stops, with one minute being approximately 1,700,000 years long. This is experienced by astronauts in low Earth orbit to a minor extent because the Earth's large mass causes ripples in spacetime.Even light, which has no mass, must follow the curvature of space in the presence of a black hole.Hence astronomers detected X-ray flashes on the opposite side of a black hole, confirming Einstein's theory yet again.
