Soyuz MS-24 Space Station Farewells and Hatch Closing - Friday, April 5,2024

Soyuz Commander Oleg Novitsky will command the MS-24 spacecraft that has been docked at the ISS since September 2023.The MS-24 had transported Soyuz commander Oleg Kononenko,Roscosmos Flight Engineer Nikolai Chubb,and NASA Flight Engineer Loral O'Hara to the ISS.Konenenko and Chubb will complete a one year mission in space,while O'Hara completed 204 days in space.

NASA Astronaut Tracy Dyson Launch to the Space Station from Baikonur Cosmodrome

Of note:NASA Flight Engineer Tracy C. Dyson is a veteran of two Space Shuttle missions,including spacewalks.This is her 3rd spaceflight.She speaks conversational Russian and has a PhD in Chemistry from UC Davis.As a child and young woman,she became a skilled electrician under the tutelage of her father,an electrical contractor.Spaceflight Participant Marina Vaselevskaya is making history as the first Belarussian to fly in space.

SOYUZ CREW PREPARES FOR LAUNCH TO THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION - NASA

At the Gagarin Training Center in Star City,Russia,NASA Flight Engineer Tracy Caldwell Dyson,Soyuz MS-25 Commander Oleg Novitsky of Roscosmos,and Spaceflight Participant Marina Vasilevskaya of Belarus took qualification exams on 28-29 February as part of their pre-flight training.They got a perfect score of 5.0.The crew is slated to launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome,Kazakhstan on 21 March 2024.
