Revised and Updated:Crew-4 Launch Delayed by Bad Weather for Axiom-1 Mission Return Flight
The NASA/ESA Crew-4 launch to the International Space Station on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket has been delayed by bad weather at the SpaceX splashdown sites for the Crew Dragon Endeavour capsule that carried four private Axiom astronauts to the ISS.The Endeavour capsule is currently docked at the docking port the Crew-4 Freedom capsule will need to use,so there cannot be a Crew-4 launch until the Axiom astronauts are able to return. The return of the Endeavour capsule cannot be till Thursday night at the earliest. Then there must be a two-day hold while NASA reviews data.*
Nonetheless, the four Crew-4 astronauts went ahead with their dry run exercise Wednesday, donning their SpaceX spacesuits and riding out to Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A in Tesla vehicles. They rode the elevator up to the Crew Dragon Freedom capsule, walked through the access arm,got into the capsule and assumed their launch positions.
Realistically, the Crew-4 launch will be next week at the earliest.*
Preparations are meanwhile underway for the uncrewed test flight (0FT-2) of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner, which is to be launched on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket on 19 May 2022.OFT-1 took place in December 2019,but was partially unsuccessful because of software glitches.ULA is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Boeing.*

Update:NASA has announced in its blog that the Endeavour capsule will depart the ISS on Saturday night, with splashdown off the Florida coast on Sunday afternoon. After a two-day program review to ensure that Crew-4 launch aligns with integrated operational timelines and data review from Endeavour's splashdown, and to arrange for Crew-4 recovery assets in the event of an abort,Crew-4 will have launch opportunities for early morning Tuesday and further chances on Wednesday and Thursday.

Orbital Flight Test-2: Crew and Science Briefing - note:the OFT-2 mission has been rescheduled for 3 August 2021 at the earliest because the newly-arrived Roscosmos (Russian) Nauka laboratory module accidentally fired its thrusters, briefly causing the ISS to shift position.

Boeing's Full Ahead in Commercial Space - joins Virgin Galactic and reveals launch date
A new strategic partnership between Boeing and Virgin Galactic has been announced, as has the first launch date for Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft.Boeing is to invest 20 million dollars in Virgin Galactic and the two aerospace firms will collaborate on transformative global travel technologies, Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson said:
This is the beginning of an important collaboration for the future of air and space travel, which are the natural next steps for our human spaceflight programme.Virgin Group and Boeing share a vision of opening access to the world and space, to move people in safe and environmentally responsible ways.*
The Boeing investment involves acquiring shares in the soon to be merged Virgin Galactic and Social Capital Hedosophia, which is expected to close in Q4 2019.SCH is a Cayman islands shell company set up by venture capitalists in 2017 to take high value start-ups public.*
According to Brian Schettler, Senior Managing Director of Boeing HorizonX Ventures:
Our work with Virgin Galactic and others will help unlock the future of space travel and high-speed mobility.*
Adds Boeing Defense, Space and Security President and CEO Leanne Caret:
The unique expertise of our companies stretches from points all around the world to the deepest reaches of space.Together we will change how people travel on Earth, and among the stars, for generations to come.*
Among other projects, Virgin Galactic recently unveiled a contract with the Italian Air Force to carry a research payload into space on a VG SpaceShip Two spacecraft.*
For its part, Boeing has announced a launch date of 17 December 2019 for the uncrewed test flight of its CST-100 Starliner spacecraft, which will be launched on a ULA Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Starliner will dock with the ISS,stay about a week, then land by parachute on the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
On 4 November, the Starliner will execute an in-flight abort test of that critical safety system. Pending successful testing, Boeing plans to begin ferrying NASA astronauts to and from the ISS in the Starliner next year.*
Virgin Galactic has successfully launched two crewed spaceflights-one in 2018,and the other in February 2019.*

Impressive Cygnus Launch Reassures Orbital ATK and NASA
More than a year since the failed launch attempt of its Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft,Orbital ATK and NASA could relax yesterday with the flawless ULA Atlas V launch of an enlarged version of Cygnus, which unfurled its new solar panels and was pointed in the right direction to reach the ISS 250 miles above Earth. On 28 October 2014,the Antares rocket had exploded in a spectacular fireball, incinerating the company's spacecraft and the NASA cargo it was to carry to the ISS.Since then,Orbital has ascertained that it was probably the Antares' AJ-26 refurbished Russian engine that was responsible for the explosion in the form of a faulty turbopump;it is working to select and test a replacement for the AJ-26,while at the same time moving to United Launch Alliance,a Lockheed Martin-Boeing joint venture, for the rockets it needs to meet its eight-mission NASA contract obligations.Yesterday's successful Atlas V launch of the Cygnus SS Deke Slayton II,named for the NASA Mercury program astronaut and director of flight operations who died in 1993,was its fourth ISS resupply mission, the midpoint of the contract. It also marked the return of ISS resupply launches to US soil and Orbital's first launch at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station,Florida.Besides launching from Cape Canaveral,Orbital is now utilising Kennedy Space Center's spacecraft processing facilities and services for the ISS missions.
Cygnus, which contains the Thales Alenia Space Pressurized Cargo Module (PCM),is scheduled to dock with the ISS on Wednesday, when US astronauts Scott Kelly, currently on a one-year mission with Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, and Kjell Lindgren grab the spacecraft with the Canadarm2 robotic arm and attach it to the earth-facing ISS Unity Module. It will be docked for two months while the astronauts unload the Cygnus of such cargo as the SAFER jetpack, which is a self-contained maneouvering unit mainly for emergency use during spacewalks,as well as such items as science experiments, gases for breathing and a microsatellite launcher with the first ever microsatellite.*
Orbital ATK is a leading aerospace and defence technologies company with over 12,000 employees in 20 US states and several international locations. Its products range from small caliber ammunition all the way up to commercial aerostructures, commercial and government satellites, rockets, missile propulsion systems and advanced space systems for human exploration.*
