Election Update:Electoral College Elects Biden 46th President

At 5:28 pm Eastern, the California electors cast their 55 votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as President and Vice President of the United States, respectively,thus pushing them over the 270 electoral vote requirement for victory over President Donald Trump.Electors from all 50 states and the District of Columbia met today to officially elect the president and vice president in accordance with Article II of the Constitution.The electors met in legislative chambers and conference rooms across the country, often escorted by police in light of violent threats made by extremists,who had been agitated by baseless claims of widespread voter fraud by President Trump and his associates.Ultimately, the US Supreme Court refused to even allow the claims to be filed.Repeatedly the groundless claims were rejected by state and federal courts, the Republican and Democrat judges alike appalled by the lack of evidence for them.* President-elect Biden will address the nation at 7:30 pm Eastern on his electoral college win and the crises facing the American people and the world.*
