Mission to Psyche: One Year Into the Spacecraft’s Journey to a Metal-Rich Asteroid - YouTube - solar system studies
All of Psyche's instruments are working:the magnetometer;the gamma ray spectrometer;the neutron spectrometer;the imagers;and the gravity experiment. The Hall thruster engine will be the first such engine used outside the Earth/Moon system. The Hall thruster is an ion thruster engine. An ion is an atom or molecule with an electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons.Hall thrusters use a magnetic field to limit their electrons' axial motion and then use them to ionize propellant. The most common propellants used are Xenon and Krypton.Psyche could reveal some of the early history of the solar system. Some asteroids are believed to be planetesimals, chunks of material left over from the planet formation process. The definition of a planetesimal is a minute planet,a body that could or did come together with many others under gravitation to form a planet. *Credit:NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory-California Institute of Technology/ASU

More About the SPHEREx Space Telescope - cosmology
According to NASA JPL/Caltech,the Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe,Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer (SPHEREx) mission will provide the first all-sky spectral survey. The results will be publicly accessible.Over its planned two-year mission, the SPHEREx Space Observatory will gather data on more than 300 million galaxies and more than 100 million stars in the Milky Way to ascertain the origins of the universe. The spacecraft will survey the sky in both optical and near-infrared light. The data will be used to search for the building blocks of life, water and organic molecules,in the Milky Way's stellar nurseries where stars are born fron gas and dust,as well as disks around stars where planets form.*The mission will create a map of the entire sky in 96 color bands, far exceeding the color resolution of previous all-sky maps.It will also identify targets for more detailed study by the James Webb Space Telescope and the future Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.*The spacecraft is being manufactured by Ball Aerospace,a division of Ball Corporation.Besides JPL/Caltech and international scientists, the SPHEREx team includes scientists from UC Irvine;Ohio State U.;the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics;Arizona State U.;the University of Arizona;Rochester Institute of Technology;Argonne National Lab;and Johns Hopkins University.SPHEREx will gather enough data to keep scientists busy for years.*

Canadian Economist Named Most Accurate
Sherry Cooper,an economist with BMO Financial Group, has been named the most accurate economist by Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business.Dr.Cooper has also been recognized as one of Canada's most influential women.Educated by the University of Pittsburgh, she was selected as most accurate from a panel of 50 economists by Arizona State.
Dr.Cooper and her team were credited with pinpointing key indicators of both the beginning and end of the recent severe recession.
There's still a big unemployment overhang,Dr.Cooper observed. It wasn't caused by high interest rates as in previous recessions.Businesses laid off massively,so they're reluctant to hire back until the orders really start to come in.Employment contracted by 6%,which is totally unprecedented.
Until we start to see expansion in new businesses as well as old,it's hard to get everyone back to work.We could see unemployment at 9% by the end of 2011.The wave of inventory restocking is over,so the purchasing of equipment and machinery won't be as strong, either.
On the plus side,Dr.Cooper noted that consumption is growing a little bit more. The consumer is starting to come back. The effect of quantitative easing 2,the Federal Reserve's purchasing of more assets, will be pretty modest, but it is stimulative.
We're in a disappointingly slow recovery, but there won't be a double dip recession.
