The four distant galaxies of Stephan's Quintet are about 290 million light years away,while the closer galaxy is only about 40 million light years away,so right next door.The distant galaxies are headed for a merger.It's believed that most galaxies have experienced a merger,including the Milky Way.*Cosmology is the study of the origin,evolution and structures of the universe.*Dr.Jennifer J.
