Observatories use laser beams primarily for a technique called adaptive optics.This method helps astronomers get clearer images of celestial objects by compensating for the distortion caused by Earth's atmosphere.The lasers excite atoms,causing them to glow and form 'artificial stars',which advanced telescopes can use to compensate their mirrors,creating sharper images.
