James Webb Space Telescope captures Saturn's changing season - planetary science - no sound
James Webb Space Telescope imagery from 2022 is superimposed on a Hubble Space Telescope image of Saturn. The yellow areas represent warming and the purple areas represent cooling.Saturn has a very active atmosphere with storms and hurricanes, chemical reactions and brightness caused by icy ring particles raining down on the atmosphere.Saturn also has ultraviolet auroras caused by solar wind particles interacting with hydrogen in Saturn's atmosphere. These auroras can only be viewed from space by space telescopes with ultraviolet capability.
